We respect and celebrate the opportunities and are encouraged by the good things that are happening. Our mission statement is, "To develop capable and responsible lifelong learners. With the cooperation of family, school and community, we will prepare students for the global challenges and the opportunities of the future."

Kindergarten Registration for the 2019-2020 school year

The time frame for registering students for next schools year’s kindergarten class in Lexington Public Schools is from March 1 through March 29, 2019.  NOTE:  If your child attends preschool at our Early Learning Academy, there will be no need to register your child for Kindergarten as those students will be processed internally.

According to state law, children must reach age 5 on or before July 31, 2019 to qualify for enrollment into kindergarten.  Children who reach age 5 after July 31, 2019 will qualify for registration into preschool, which will take place in April 2019.

Children who meet the above-mentioned age requirement may be registered in the Lexington Public Schools Registration Office at 300 S. Washington in Lexington.

Be sure to bring the following two items:

1.  The child’s certified birth certificate
2.  The child’s immunization records.

More information will be given to parents on requirements pertaining to physical examinations and additional vaccines at the time of registration.

For your convenience, click on this link to download and open a PDF file of the enrollment packet.  You will only need to fill the first four pages of this enrollment packet.

Preschool registration will take place in April.

School Communications Parent Consent

As school leaders, we know you understand the value and importance of school-to-home communications.  Whether those communications are via text, phone call, email or social media, they are powerful tools for ensuring a strong school community, involving parents in their child’s learning, alerting parents of changes in the school calendar, or notifying families when there are critical incidents at school, such as weather-related closings, evacuations or lockdowns.

Under a federal law originally designed to protect consumers from telemarketers, we have to get your permission to send non-emergency messages to a mobile phone by voice call or SMS text. InfoCenter is a free web and mobile app that gives you access to school notifications of all types (text messages, voice, email) inside a single inbox. You can also change your contact preferences and adjust contact numbers in the web app, available from any Internet-enabled device.

The easiest way is to visit the SchoolMessenger InfoCenter website at Create an account by clicking “Sign Up” on the top right menu, using the email address that you have provided to the school. Then you can choose how you want to be contacted based on the category of message (from emergencies to school activities) and provide contact permission. You will also be able to listen to and read messages from the school for the previous 30 days so you don’t miss a thing, including alerts, notifications and attachments. You can also sign back in to change your preferences at any time.

Parent FAQ's

School Messenger Texting Available

Starting November 20, 2015, Lexington Public Schools will start sending automated text messages regarding your student's weather related delays or cancellations and emergencies.

PowerSchool Single Sign On

Lexington Public Schools will be updating our PowerSchool Student Information System Parent Portal to a single sign on program effective November 20, 2015. This will allow parents/guardians with more than one child to access all of their child(ren)'s information at one time with one login and password. Both Parents can have their own account but each account will need a separate email address. You will be able to view all your child(ren)'s up to the minute attendance, grades, assignments, school bulletins, and messages from teachers.

Letters were mailed to each student's parent/guardian with step-by-step instructions on how to set up your parent account.  If you should have questions, please contact your child(ren)'s school building.
