NEW STUDENTS OF ALL GRADE LEVELS SHOULD ENROLL NOW

May 24, 2016

All students who will be attending school at Lexington Public Schools for the first time, such as in the case of a preschooler, kindergartener or a student who has transferred to Lexington should enroll as soon as possible at the Lexington Public Schools Administration Building located at 300 S. Washington Street in Lexington, NE.

Early student registration is requested to ensure that students are added to a class list, to allow us to receive records, familiarize ourselves with the student, identify any needs and have materials ready for the first day of school on August 17, 2016.

Parents enrolling their children at Lexington Public Schools for the first time must present a copy of the student’s CERTIFIED birth certificate, immunization records and the address of the last school attended, if applicable.  Transfer certificates and/or school records from a previous school help with placement of the student at the appropriate grade level.

All students entering school, at any level, are also required to meet the state's immunization requirements.  The requirements vary with age group and transfer origin, but generally include:  3-4 doses of DtaP, DTP or DT, 3 doses of Polio, 1-2 doses of MMR, 3 doses of Hepatitis B, 2 doses of Varicella (if student has not had chickenpox), and for preschoolers 1-3 doses of Hib and 1-4 doses of pneumococcal.  Please review your child's record and make sure they have the current immunizations needed for enrollment.

Prospective preschoolers entering Lexington Public Schools for the 2016-2017 school year must be 4 years old on or before July 31, 2016.  Prospective Kindergarteners entering Lexington Public Schools for the 2016-2017 school year must be 5 years old on or before July 31, 2016.

For further information please contact Hardy Moreno or Barre Hassan at the Lexington Public Schools Administration Building or call 324-1211 or 324-1217.  Please find Spanish and English registration packets online at:  http://www.lexschools.org/district-information/registration
