The Relentless Tour
January 27, 2017
Monday, March 6th the Lexington Elementary Students will be a part of “THE RELENTLESS TOUR” with Anthony Ianni!
Anthony shares stories about his life experiences. He has autism and was bullied at a young age. His parents were told that he would never go to college and he would be lucky to finish high school. He proved them wrong by going to Michigan State and becoming the first individual with autism to play division 1 basketball for Coach Tom Izzo. He will speak for about 45 minutes and his talk is AWESOME!! He also talks about bullying and "Living Your Dream".
Bullying is a continuing problem at all grade levels and across all nationalities. Our hope is this can be a reminder and help curb the problem at the elementary schools in Lexington, Nebraska. I have a huge place in my heart for students with autism. Anthony is proof that you can over come your shortcomings and if you have a dream, you should go for it! Here is a quote from Anthony “Bullying can affect everybody today, including people with Autism. A stat most people don’t know is that 65-90% of kids with Autism are the prime target for bullies. I myself was one of those victims when I was younger and it continued until I was a freshman in high school. After I heard this stat I knew I had to take action!” My hope by is that by bringing this program to Lexington, it will help all students with autism; as well as bring attention to bullying and how we as a town/school district can address the bullying problems that face our youth today.
