THESE ARE NOT CONSIDERED LOCAL BECAUSE OTHER AREA HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS CAN APPLY.

 

SCHOLARSHIPS ARE LISTED IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER.

 

ALPHA DELTA KAPPA SORORITY SCHOLARSHIP: $500. The Phi Chapter presents a scholarship each year to worthy student pursuing a post-secondary degree in education including teaching, counseling or library media. Students from Dawson and Gosper County are eligible. Scholarship application and instructions are available in the counseling office. Deadline: April 2.

 

EASTERN STAR AWARD has been established by the Dawson Chapter #33 of Lexington and the Grand Chapter of Nebraska. One $500 scholarship will be available. The scholarship is to be used at the college or technical school of the students’ choice. The scholarship will be awarded to the student who best exemplifies good citizenship and high moral character, without regard to scholastic standing or parental finances. Follow the local scholarship instructions and submit the completed application to the counseling office by April 2.

 

FAIRVIEW VETERINARY CLINIC SCHOLARSHIP will be presented to a student intending to become a veterinarian, veterinary technician or majoring in an agriculture related field.  Preference will be given to students studying to become a Veterinarian or Veterinarian Technician. Consideration for the scholarship will be given to any graduating senior who shows qualities of good character, leadership, academic achievement, financial need and participation in extra curricular and community activities. $500 will be awarded after successful completion of the first semester and enrollment in the second semester of the student's freshman year in college. Renewable up to 4 years.? Follow the local scholarship instructions and submit the completed application to the counseling office by April 2.

 

HENRY K ORTHMAN SCHOLARSHIP has been established by the employees of Orthman Manufacturing Inc. in honor of Henry K Orthman, its founder. This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating high school senior with plans to pursue a post-secondary education.  Children and relatives of  Orthman Manufacturing employees are eligible for this scholarship. Applicants can be from any of the area high schools.  The scholarship can be picked up at Orthman's office or in the Counseling Office. The amount of the scholarship is $1,500.  Scholarships are due April 20, 2012

 

RENEE BEANS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP will be presented to a senior who is planning to enter the medical career field. This could be nursing, technology, medicine, therapy or any other allied field. You must rank in the upper 1/2 of your class to qualify for this $500 scholarship, which will be paid upon proof of registration and acceptance at a school that offers these programs. You will be judged on your scholarship and citizenship during high school. Follow the local scholarship instructions and submit the completed application to the counseling office by April 2.

 

ST. ANN'S ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP: Any student that is a member of St. Ann's Church. Must be attending a religious affiliated college.

 

TYSON FRESH MEATS LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP Applications will be accepted until April 1 of each school year. The scholarship will be available to any graduating high school senior who is planning to study in an accredited four year college and who is the child or step child of an employee (with a minimum of one year seniority) in the Lexington Tyson Plant This scholarship will be in the amount of $1,000 or $500 depending on the plant. Applications need to be picked up at the plant, in the personnel office.  Turned in at the plant. Deadline: March 30.

 

TYSON FRESH MEATS REGIONAL SCHOLARSHIP Applications for this scholarship can be obtained at the plant in the personnel office.  This scholarship is renewable each year of college. Deadline: April 13.

 

Overton Veterinary Services Scholarship  A $1,000 one time scholarship for first semester 2012 is being offered to students registered in the Elm Creek, Lexington, Overton, Amherst, and SEM Senior High Schools with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.  Applicant must be seeking an Agricultural College Degree with preference given to animal science majors.  You will need to complete application, have two letters of recommendation, and have most recent transcript. A Personal Essay  will also need to written on the following:  What are your career goals and how do they relate to the agricultural industry in Nebraska (400 words or less - typed in 12 pt font)  These need to be sent to:  Overton Veterinary Services  75348 Rd 440 Lexington, NE 68850.  Download application at www.overtonvet.com
