THESE ARE NOT CONSIDERED LOCAL BECAUSE OTHER AREA HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS CAN APPLY.

SCHOLARSHIPS ARE LISTED IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER.

DAWSON COUNTY FARM BUREAU SCHOLARSHIP - three $500 scholarships will be awarded to area seniors whose parents are voting members of the Farm Bureau. Deadline: March 27 into counseling office.

 

DAWSON PUBLIC POWER DISTRICT STEM SCHOLARSHIP  in the amount of $1500 is available for applicants pursuing a degree in a STEM-related field at any accredited college, university, trade school or community college. Information and the application can be downloaded here. Application must be postmarked by March 16, 2018 or emailed by noon March 16 to cgengenbach@dawsonpower.com.

DAWSON PUBLIC POWER DISTRICT UTILITY LINE SCHOLARSHIP offers one $1500 scholarship that will be paid upon completion of a diploma or Associates Degree of Applied Science in Utility Line. Information and application can be downloaded here. Application must be postmarked by March 16, 2018 or emailed by noon March 16 to cgengenbach@dawsonpower.com.

 

EASTERN STAR AWARD The Dawson Chapter #33 of Lexington and the Grand Chapter of Nebraska has established one $500 scholarship. The scholarship is to be used at the college or technical school of the students’ choice. The scholarship will be awarded to the student who best exemplifies good citizenship and high moral character, without regard to scholastic standing or parental finances. Ties to the organization will be recognized.  Follow the local scholarship instructions using Common Application and submit the application to the Counseling Office by March 27.

 

FAIRVIEW VETERINARY CLINIC SCHOLARSHIP will be presented to a student intending to become a veterinarian, veterinary technician or majoring in agriculture related field.  Preference will be given to students studying to become a Veterinarian or Veterinarian Technician. Consideration for the scholarship will be given to any graduating senior who shows qualities of good character, leadership, academic achievement, financial need and participation in extra curricular and community activities. $500 will be awarded after successful completion of the first semester with a GPA of 3.0 and enrollment in the second semester of the student's freshman year in college.  Follow the local scholarship instructions using Common Application and submit the application to the counseling office by March 27.

 

The employees of Orthman Manufacturing Inc. in honor of Henry K Orthman, its founder, have established HENRY K ORTHMAN SCHOLARSHIP. This $1500 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating high school senior that has a family member employed by Orthman Manufacturing. Applicants can be from any of the area high schools.  The scholarship can be picked up and returned to the Orthman's office by the family member employed at the plant. Deadline:  April 15

 

OVERTON VETERINARY SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP A $1,000 one time scholarship for first semester 2014 is being offered to students registered in the Elm Creek, Lexington, Overton, Amherst, and SEM Senior High Schools with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.  Applicant must be seeking an Agricultural College Degree with preference given to animal science majors.  You will need to complete application, have two letters of recommendation, and have most recent transcript. A Personal Essay will also need to written on the following:  What are your career goals and how do they relate to the agricultural industry in Nebraska (400 words or less - typed in 12 pt font)  These need to be sent to:  Overton Veterinary Services  75348 Rd 440 Lexington, NE 68850.  Download application at www.overtonvet.com

ST. ANN'S ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP: Any student that is a member of St. Ann's Church. Must be attending a religious affiliated college.  Requirements can be found on application sheet.  Deadline: March 27.

 

MARIAN KJAR SCHOLARSHIP:  Any student that is a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church can apply. Application needs a cover sheet, application sheet, transcript, resume, personal statement, financial needs statement, and 3 letters of recommendation (2 teacher recommendation letters and 1 from outside of school).  Download application hereDeadline:  March 27.

 

ST. ANN’S KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS SCHOLARSHIP:  Any student that is a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church can apply. Application needs a cover sheet, application sheet, transcript, resume, personal statement, financial needs statement which includes college cost estimates, and 3 letters of recommendation (2 teacher recommendation letters and 1 from outside of school).  Download application hereDeadline:  March 27.

 

TYSON FRESH MEATS LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP The scholarship will be available to any graduating high school senior who is planning to study in an accredited four-year college or a two-year college/technical school and who is the child or stepchild of an employee (with a minimum of one year seniority) in the Lexington Tyson Plant. This scholarship will be in the amount of $1,000. Open application with Acrobat Pro and type information. Application is turned in at the plant. Deadline: March 24, 2017

TYSON FAMILY FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP is based on financial need, to help those members and their dependents most needing assistance to cover tuition, fees, books, and other associated expenses incurred while pursuing a higher education. All scholarships will be $3000/semester, $2000/quarter, payable to the school of attendance, with renewal based on the student's continued adherence to our established criteria. Open application with Acrobat Pro and type information.  Application must be at the Tyson Family Foundation in Springdale, AR by 5:00 p.m. CST.
