Research Papers

April 22, 2013

It's that time of the year again!  Students in English III and English III Honors are hard at work on their research papers; researching, creating outlines and note cards, writing; and then subsequently editing, revising, reviewing, and peer reviewing their work.  The students were allowed to select their own persuasive topics related to a theme or concept examined in one of the texts read over the course of the school year.  The possibilities were infinite, as the students have read fiction, non-fiction, speeches, and poetry from the founding of the original colonies up to modern time.   Students have selected from a wide range of topics including domestic abuse, immigration, fate, color theory, superstitions, Americanism, and even insanity.  By the time the students have completed this massive undertaking they will have researched, highlighted and made note cards for at least ten articles; written, revised, and edited approximately twenty-five pages of text including the actual paper as well as a bibliography, reflection essay, and works cited among others; compiled everything into a binder complete with cover art; and put in countless hours of work both in and out of school.
