Foundations of Leadership with Mrs. Brockmoller

November 25, 2014

In a world of social media my Foundations of Leadership students ask how connected are we?  This month we have talked about the pros and cons of walls and bridges.  While a wall might make one feel safe and are easy to build they are framed in prejudices.  The students then examined bridges.  They discovered although bridges are hard to make, they connect people.  The bridges must be able to "bear the weight of honest disclosure."  The students in FOL have worked on building our classroom container, created classroom agreements, visited the ELA and have had their first council.  These students have done a great job participating in class discussions and activities.  Although they have discovered in a digital world our connections are sometimes not very strong they have started to test the bridges they have built within our classroom.
