Give Big Lex – Save the Majestic Theater Project

November 13, 2014

The 4th annual Lip Sync contest was another smashing success as the students from Lexington High School, Lexington Middle School and Elm Creek High School entertained the crowd on Thursday, November 6th.  This annual event was the jump-start for the Give Big Lex – Save the Majestic Theater project.  As the completion date of this four-year project nears, funds are continually being raised, with the Lip Sync event alone bringing in over $1300.  Majestic Theater t-shirts were sold throughout the week, a 32” color TV was raffled off, and students of LHS paid $1 to wear a hat for the day.  All the proceeds were then given to the Lexington Community Foundation on Give Big Lex day.  And what a Give Big Day it was for the Majestic Theater project!  With 136 unique donors, the Majestic Theater project placed 1st and will receive a $2500 bonus on top of the $33,928 donated to the project.  This money will go towards purchasing the seats, digital projector and retractable screen.   Show time at the Majestic is getting closer!  We still have over $120,000 to raise so the NNER group will continue to look into grants and other fund raising ideas to help finish off the final money to make the opening of the Majestic Theater a reality for 2015.
