What Is the Best Part of Being a Senior?

May 2, 2016

Bianca Gomez: The best part about being a senior is being able to be a leader and knowing that it is your last year going to a high school and that soon we will be on our own and on our way to making our future.

Allen Castenada: I'd say feeling older than everyone else is the best part. Of course old in age, but I feel like I'm an elderly person full of wisdom. In all my activities and classes I get asked questions and I can always look back throughout my high school years and provide answers. I think that I changed for the better in my senior year. My first two years of high school no one knew me, and I played only one sport, soccer. I didn't care much about grades and gave teachers a hard time. I was just "one of those kids." This year I was a varsity football unity council member, soccer captain, L-Club President, drum line section leader, and even a homecoming candidate. I wish I could restart and start this way from my freshman year but that’s what I'm going to use college soccer for. Instead of being the way I am now only for my last year, why not do it all four years this time?

Ana-Alesia Ward: The best part about being a senior is that I never have to come back to high school again. :)

Zoie Allen: The best part of being a senior has definitely been creating such a strong relationship with my teachers. Before this year, I haven't felt like I really trusted and got along with my teachers as much as I have this year. I felt like I really got along with them, and if anything happened, I felt like I was able to go to any of them when a personal issue occurred. I also liked being treated like an adult by my teachers. I think our teachers let go of the reigns a lot this year and gave us some breathing room on our assignments and putting up with conflicts. Overall, my senior year has definitely been one of the best and I definitely owe it all to my teachers.

Elizabeth Romero-Duarte: The best part of being a senior is probably the fact that in some ways we are treated more like adults. We are challenged more and that is only going to prepare us for the future.

Aileen Martin: The best part about being a senior was the anticipation built for our departure of high school and preparation for college.

Alejandra Adame: What I liked about being a senior was that we did not have to worry about NeSA testing or MAPs testing if we did well the year before.

Madison Berke: The best part about being a senior is the relationship that is built with your class. Everyone kind of realizes it’s our last “hoorah” and forms a bond.

Aaron Kast: The best part about being a senior is the automatic respect you receive from lower classmen.

Josue Ayala: Being a senior meant having more freedoms than before. Underclassmen looked up to us as role models.

Daniel Holbrook: The best part about being a senior is just going through the whole process of being a senior: growing, learning, preparing for college, and making new friends.

Jesus Ramirez: The best part of being a senior would be being closer to the end of our high school career and knowing that the past thirteen years were worth it.

I feel like the faculty has given me more “rights,” and I know that I’m trustworthy in their eyes. There has been so much that I have been able to do this year that I would not have been allowed to do in past years.  I will not name anything, but I will say that the privileges were awesome.
