Clothing and Design

January 10, 2017

This semester Mrs. Gydesen has 38 eager students in her Clothing and Design classes.  These students know the basics about fibers, fabrics, basic sewing terms, using sewing machines and have completed several projects, including 9-block pillows, pillowcases, and flannel pajama pants.  They also created crocheted pot holders.  This semester their first project is to redesign a large t-shirt into something else.  The students get to use dress forms to recreate their body type so they can try their designs on the forms to get a better idea of how it fits and how they want to refashion their designs.  The students will also learn how to work with zippers and then use their creativity to make projects that involve thread, fiber, yarn or fabric.
