Students taking Computer Programming 1 will work with Java, CSS, Ruby on Rails, SQL, JavaScript, C#, C++, Python, PHP and Swift.  While these languages may not sound familiar to you, chances are if you have ever used an iPhone, a phone running Android, played on a Playstation 4, XBOX 1 or a Wii U, you have experienced the result of computer coding.

In addition to learning to code, students will also learn about the basics of computer hardware, component function and website design 101.  The culmination of this class will be the creation and design of a website.

According to fastcompany.com, in 2015 alone, there were 7 million job openings in the United States of America that required basic coding or computer programming skills and coding/computer programming will continue as an in-demand career option for college graduates.
