High-Tech Anatomy-Using iPads to Enrich Dissections

October 7, 2019

Anatomy students are getting high tech with their new iPads. While dissection is an integral part of an anatomy course, students have been able to get more involved with other models and technology in and out of the classroom. This year, with our iPads, students have been able to use the Essential Anatomy app that allows them to use a 3D model with 11 different anatomical systems. We start with the skeleton, where the app allows students to pin and identify different structures. The app enables students to isolate individual bones, to add layers of muscles, arteries, veins, or nerves, or to view each system individually. While the full app costs money, there is a free version of the skeleton that anatomy students have used in the past. If you are interested in anatomy check out the essential anatomy or essential skeleton app.
