What’s Happening in Agriculture Classes?

March 1, 2017

With spring right around the corner it is time to start thinking about greenhouse operations.  This year the Horticulture classes will be growing a variety of plants, vegetables, flowers and grasses.  They will be growing over 200 hanging plants.(photos below)  The vegetables that they will be growing will be sold or given to the community garden project.  The Introduction to Agriculture class will be learning about hydroponics (photo below) and they will be growing plants for the community garden project also.  Both classes will be going through soil and how to make their own potting soil.

These classes will also be helping with the design of an outdoor classroom setting in the park in partnership with the City of Lexington.  These classes will be responsible with the designing and planting of flowerbeds and native grasses to Nebraska. Come and see the beautiful plants theses students will grow.
