Library Card

Did you know that September is Library Card Sign-up month?  At the LMS the students are able to use their student ID as their library card.  Students can check out two books to read to reach their accelerated reading goal.  Reading for enjoyment is also something the teachers want the students to do.

There is also a public library in Lexington.  A library card is free to have as long as you live within the city limits.  A person under the age of 16 has to have their parent's signature on the application to receive their new library card.  The public library and the school library are great places to go to find books about anything you enjoy and a great place to find information for research papers.

This quote by former First Lady Laura Bush is a great way to sum up how great a library can be. "Libraries allow children to ask questions about the world and find the answers. And the wonderful thing is that once a child learns to use a library, the doors to learning are always open." Laura Bush
