Learning about Life

In science class students are learning about genetics and heredity. Students will learn how traits are passed from parents to offspring. We will read about Gregor Mendel, who is known as the father of genetics.  How he used pea plants to discover how traits were passed and developed the punnett square to help predict the outcomes of his pea plants.

Students have spent the first semester learning about life. The four characteristics all living things share. With an understanding of life it was time to learn about the cell the smallest living unit.

We will look forward to reading about classification, biomes and ecosystems during second semester.
