We Dig This!

January 25, 2011

Some LMS students were involved in some major secrecy!

6th Grade National Team students just finished an archaeology dig!  Each student got to experience the excitement of discovering just what artifact was in the container (which was secretly buried by a different student). Students then had to determine if the artifact was whole, missing parts, and possibly even identify what the artifact was at one time.  Was it a tool, a craft, a decoration, a broken part of something else? The artifact was also measured, drawn and duplicated on paper.  Eventually the sixth grade archaeologists were paired with the person who had buried the artifact to visit about the experience.

Quotes:
“I think it was cool!”  Cynthia
Eric said, “It was exciting to see what we could bury.  I used an old tennis ball as my artifact.”
Al said, “I buried a toy man and I dug up a bobbie pin!”
