State National History Day

March 28, 2017

There was a local competition here at Lex Middle School in February for National History Day.  Students in grades sixth through eighth had spent much time researching their topics and completing projects that were judged on the theme of "Taking a Stand in History."  There was a tremendous turn-out to this event.  Thanks for attending!

Several students who had outstanding projects went on to compete at Districts in Kearney at UNK in March.

Next, on Saturday, April 8th, these students will be headed to Lincoln for state competition. Their projects had placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in their categories at Districts. The topics are listed next to students' names.

7th graders:

Ethan Mins, Korey Decker, Thomas Hakonson - Ghengis Khan: Taking a Stand to Unite the Mongols
Kara Houlden - I Have a Dream
Saidi Rutten, Zoey Salem - A Stand in History by Sitting

8th graders:
Michell Plazas - The Trevor Project: Saving Young Lives One Call at a Time
Addie Sund - Newborns in Need: Look What Your Donations Can Do!

Congratulations and Good Luck, students!
