Activities

Lexington Academy (After School Program)
Lexington Academy is our afterschool program where we currently serve approximately 150 students K-5th grades.  The program provides homework tutoring, nutrional snack, recreation activities and enrichment activities through our community partner organizations in Lexington.  The program serves students from 3:20pm - 5:30pm on days when school is in session.  For more information contact Tiffany Tinglehoff, Lexington Academy Director at Morton (308) 324-3764.

Morning Reading Club (Monday/Wednesday/Friday Mornings)
Morton's Reading Club meets on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7:30am - 8:00am.  It is open to all students and provides time for students to come and enjoy a book from our library.  Our younger students are provided a time where they have stories and nursery rhymes read to them.

Walking Club (Tuesday/Thursday Mornings)
Morton's walking club is a strategy used to help us keep our students healthy and active at school.  The students walk a one block area, under adult supervision, every Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7:30am-8:00am. In the case of inclement weather the students walk or have activities in the gymnasium.

Morton Honor Choir
Morton Elementary's Honor Choir is a select 50 members choir made of 4th a 5th grade students.  These students must audition each spring to be a part of this special group.  They perform throughout the community and selected location in Nebraska.

Instrumental Music
Those students in the 5th grade have the option of participating in the Morton Elementary Instrumental Music Program.  The receive group instruction from our instrumental music teacher on a daily basis.  Students are required to practice and perform at all concerts throughout the year.  This is an optional program for students.
